Chestra

I am writing this blog in between practicing my violin. The reason I have to take breaks is because I haven't played consistently in a very long time and my muscles in my hand (mostly my left hand) get sore quite easily.

I have been looking to get plugged in up here and just make my own friends (again, not through my housemates or through work). It gets very tiring, and for me, I just need to have other outlets. About a week ago, something dawned on me - to look for community orchestras in Seattle. There was the one in Tempe that I was in (in which, I had an incredibly uncomfortable interaction with the PVHS band director, so I quickly stopped attending after the first concert).

It turns out there are A TON of community orchestras out here. I was looking through all of them and narrowed it down to four and emailed Mrs. Rausch (my violin teacher from Phoenix)their websites and asked her what she thought. And the one that she ended up recommending to me was the one that I was leaning towards: Thalia Symphony. I have been in contact with the conductor, and as of a few days ago, I have decided to join them. They practice Thursdays for 2.5 hours and have about 5 concerts (maybe 6) a year. And I am so excited. I feel like it is going to be a good match and I really hope that I end up being right. They practice in Queen Anne at Seattle Pacific University and about half of the members are either students or alumni, and the rest are not.

So, my psuedo audition is September 17. I seriously decided just in time. I have been practicing a lot and it feels good. I really want this to work out.
